Boozy Christmas Punch

Ponche con Piquete

A warm, spiced fruit punch traditionally enjoyed during the holiday season in Mexico. Served with a splash of alcohol, or “piquete,” it’s a comforting and festive drink, perfect for chilly evenings and celebratory gatherings.

Ingredients

100 oz Water
1 Piloncillo cone
2 tbsp. Orange peel
4 Cloves
1 Cinnamon stick
¼ lb Hibiscus flower
½ cup Tamarind pulp
3 Sugar canes (peeled and cut)
3 Apples (cut in wedges)
½ lb Tejocote
½ lb Guava
¼ lb Prune
c/n Rum

Directions

1. Heat water, piloncillo, orange peel, cloves, cinnamon stick, hibiscus flower, and tamarind pulp for 5 minutes or until the piloncillo and tamarind pulp dissolve.
2. Add sugar canes, apples, tejocotes, guavas and prunes. Heat for 15 minutes.
3. Serve the punch and a dash of rum.
